Assists in the modifications of engineering design prototypes and/or first article electronic equipment in preparation for production design release of product. Assists in the creation of design documentation and release of documentation into the enterprise business systems. Performs non-technical and technical project duties.

Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision and direction: Performs a wide variety of highly complex technical tasks which requires considerable knowledge of engineering techniques and design theory in the creation of precision mechanical or electrical design layouts. Must be able to manage multiple tasks of varying complexity and prioritize appropriately
Using contract/project requirements: Provides highly skilled mechanical design and design documentation technical support and project leadership which includes understanding of contractual and export regulations related to technical design data and usage based on classification and associated Technical Assistance Agreements
Performs the preparation of required records for the release of design data and design documentation into the company data and documentation control systems
Provides mentoring to new designers or engineers in the current procedures for design database and documentation release
Completes, or directs lower grade personnel in the preparation of the necessary documentation for the release of Hardware Designs into the company documentation control system; Maintains contractually controlled, Government and/or company design and documentation requirement knowledge in supporting the completion of assigned tasks
Assists in the development of new design/documentation techniques and procedures based on the current government or commercial publications for design/documentation requirements.
Provide knowledge and assistance in the PDM process for the release of documentation and design data into the company documentation and data control system.
May perform group leadership duties as assigned by the area

Utilizes LEAN initiatives in all job functions and participates in LEAN activities.
Demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking skills to analyze a variety of factors and determine solutions for successful completion of project assignments
Uses various software packages/tools, such as, Mechanical CAD tools, Microsoft Office tools, product data management systems and enterprise resource planning systems, to prepare, review and critique documents and records for others.
Builds productive working relationships internally and externally, with frequent communication involving those internal company and external contacts. Represents the mechanical design support organization on specific projects related to mechanical design initiatives
Must have an ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment interfacing with remote teams both domestically and internationally with the ability to facilitate and coordinate work between these team members, which may include maintenance of file shares, data access groups, teamspace (share point) sites and access control plans associated with this activity.
