_GENERAL JOB SUMMARY_:
Support Custodial Director in directing assigned personnel. Perform custodial and minor maintenance work on a flexible schedule as required for general maintenance of buildings and equipment. Will be responsible for equipment, expendable supplies, and campus keys. The individual will be responsible for facilitating office and classroom moves with faculty and staff. Moves will need to take place in a logical and coordinated fashion. May be exposed to confidential information. Oversee and coordinate work of custodian/maintenance and security personnel. Hours for this position are 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. but must be flexible.
_ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES_
Supervise work of Facilities employees during assigned shifts, establish work standards and issue instructions.
Receive and inventory furniture and supplies as it is delivered to ensure the quality and quantity.
Inspect areas to insure that all work is being carried out in a proper and orderly manner.
Coordinate work of custodial personnel.
Perform daily custodial duties to various areas.
Must maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.
Manage custodial staff team leaders and teams as required.
Manage personnel issues in coordination with the Director of Custodial
services
.
Assist Director of Custodial Services with annual employee reviews
Use problem solving skills to overcome personnel shortages, scheduling issues and other common problems.
Maintain and update cleaning schedules/packages
Obey and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate when needed with coworkers to complete assignments.
Coordinate office and classroom moves for projects.
Set up or move furniture and equipment as required.
Support in-service training programs for staff.
Assign part-time employees as work load dictates.
Complete various correspondence, reports, forms, and materials (agenda, minutes, reports).
Operate snow removal equipment such as plows, blowers, shovels, and sanders. Help coordinate snow removal.
Perform assigned task as member of the Emergency Response and Control Team.
Train new custodian/maintenance.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and supervisory personnel.
Working knowledge of vacuums, wet vacs, shampoo machines, buffers, and other standard cleaning equipment. Knowledge of use of common cleaning implements such as mops, brooms, and cleaners to keep areas clean and serviced.
Willing to work a flexible schedule as well as weekends on a rotating schedule.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions in the job involved.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to learn the
computer
system that controls both the heating and cooling of all campus buildings, and electrical tester for repairing equipment.
Be able to oversee custodian/maintenance and security staff during Manager's absence.

_GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION_ :
Light to medium work. Position involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (10EUR'33%); up to 20 pounds frequently (34EUR'66%); and up to 10 pounds constantly (67EUR'100%) to move objects. Physically able to perform constant (67EUR'100%) and routine stooping, bending, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping. Occasional (10EUR'33%) crawling and kneeling.

Person in this position must satisfactorily complete Kirkwood's Blood Borne Pathogens training because of the potential exposure risk to blood or body fluids. Must satisfactorily complete Kirkwood's CPR/First Aid training and RightEUR'toEUR'Know program as a member of the Emergency Response and Control Team.

_MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS_:
High school diploma or GED required.
Five years of custodial/maintenance or related work experience , including two years of related supervisory experience.
Valid

driver's license required.
